Nature Filming, How To Film Clouds, Amazing Results Using Optical Zoom Far Clearer Than Digital Zoom


Whilst Filming Clouds that are far away, you would think that a digital zoom with a Magnification of 500x would give you better results. Yet, By Using the Panasonic Camera's Optical Zoom, with the Zoom set to around 12 x ( Max of 90x) I was able to get some amazingly clear shots with incredible detail, considering how far off the clouds were, This just was not possible using the Digital Zoom, which although it could zoom out much further, tended to produce far lower quality footage, which was often blurring or badly. pixelated.

As can be seen in the Footage, there is some absolutely beautiful detail in the passing storm clouds, that I could have made even better, with a few minor adjustments.

So, for filming long distance landscape and nature shots with your Camera or camcorder, try using your optical zoom, and your digital zoom, and let me know which one you got the best results with.
